The Responses according
to the survey were as follows, 45.2% were female while 54.8 were male. Majority
of the responses came from the rural population as opposed to urban set up.
The larger population
59.5 % disposes their wastes in their home gardens whereas another 35.7% use
other means of waste disposal methods. 4.8% use more than one method of garbage
disposal.
According to the Survey:
Solid wastes is the most disposed waste at 66.7%, followed by Recyclable waste
at 23.8 % , then Liquid wastes at 7.1% and lastly hazardous wastes at 2.4 %.
Majority of the
respondents said that they dispose the wastes so as to keep the environment
clean while a few said that they dispose the wastes so as to get rid of it
after use.
50% of the respondents
dispose their wastes weekly, 47.6% dispose daily while 2.4 %monthly.
73.8 % of organic Waste
is generated with this being the highest number of waste generated by the
respondents while 26.2% of inorganic waste is generated.
Majority of the
respondents finds it easy to dispose organic wastes as opposed to inorganic
wastes.
Most of the respondents
believe that the wastes disposed carelessly leads to contamination of water bodies
which makes it unfit for consumption.
